help is in your hands

Here at Abigail we’ve been working to put a precious resource in the hands of people in need: the Abigail app.

Abigail will help people build and keep track of the things in their life that provide them with support and relief.

We are working hard, and Abigail is in beta testing. Please will you help us bring this resource into the hands of those who need it?

(Take part in the beta testing and follow our progress on iOS here.)

What does Abigail offer?

support resources at your fingertips

Dealing with abuse is difficult and complicated! We can help lighten the load.

The Abigail app offers a way to keep track of your supports – friends, websites, professionals, and services.

Load in commonly used services at the click of a button – phone numbers and websites for Legal Aid, 1800 RESPECT, and Beyond Blue, for example. Then call or browse straight from the app.

Add your own contacts and supports. Local police, your doctor, pastor: it’s up to you.

If you are supporting others through a pastoral or other caring role you can use the app to keep all your DV, relationship, housing, and other services at hand. No more need to fumble about remembering the name of the local housing services or therapists you trust.

We can’t wait to get this into people’s hands!

your own "wellbeing toolbox"

A “wellbeing” or “wellness” toolbox is a custom list of things you can do, remember, or try, when you are struggling with mental health. Plus you can add proactive tools to look after your health, relationships, and wellbeing.

Abuse can seriously harm your ability to concentrate, remember things, and think clearly. It’s even worse if you are triggered or struggling with your mental health and functioning.

But – when you can think straight – you may already know ways of helping yourself when you are in distress or activities that keep you healthy. As you learn more by reading or talking to seasoned professionals, you can find new wellbeing tools to add to your toolbox.

Abigail will help you keep track of those things that help you. You don’t have to remember your list: just open Abigail!

We care deeply about people. People like you. The wellbeing toolbox is one way we can help ease your life and recovery.

encouragement, learning, and support

Abigail opens every day with a quote from the Bible: offering support and encouragement for those who have experienced abuse. Some of our verses offer encouragement relevant to all – but others point in particular to God’s love for justice and his concern for those who suffer. Other quotes directly show God’s view of abuse and abusive behaviour.

Inside the app, we are developing a page with quick tips on relationships as well as links to more information.

With your support we can offer help and relief to victims and survivors of abuse – help at their fingertips!
